In 1975, a group of Melbourne Veterinary Practitioners founded the first Animal Emergency Centre (AEC), at Mount Waverley. They felt that a better facility was needed to provide emergency care for their clients. There are now centres in Melbourne at Mount Waverley and Moorabbin and Dandenong, Frankston and Adelaideat Norwood. They also have centres in Queensland at Noosa and Kedron, Woolloongabba, and on the Gold Coast.

To ensure that veterinary care is available 24 hours a day, the AEC employs over 100 veterinarians and veterinary nurses. AEC staff is highly skilled and qualified in critical and emergency care. Our ethos is built on a commitment to continuous learning. A Consultant in Emergency and Critical care is on staff to make sure that protocols are constantly updated and that all patients are given the most current knowledge. Every AEC is equipped to handle emergency situations with a variety of diagnostic tools.
